Показать описание
The Hebrew letter Shin is the 21st letter of the Hebrew alphabet. However It’s not just any letter.
Shin means teeth, to consume, or destroy
In Hebrew, the letter shin by itself is the only letter in the alephbet that is connected to the
name of God by itself.
The letter shin is associated with one of the names of God. El Shaddai. Which means God Almighty.
It is also stands for Shalom, the common Jewish greeting which means “perfect peace”
The Shin is also the letter printed on Mezuzahs, that graces the doorposts of every Jewish home. In every Jewish home there is a Mezuzah beside the doorway. When they leave their home they touch this Mezuzah and kiss their fingertips. On the Mezuzah is the letter Shin to represent the name of God and inside the Mezuzhah is a tiny scroll on which is written, “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One Lord……” Deuteronomy 6:4-9 When they leave their home they touch that letter that represents the name of God, and kiss their fingertips as a sign of reverence to God and His word.
The Shin is also represented by a hand sign. Most of you will recognize this hand sign as made famous by Spock from Star Trek as the Vulcan greeting. Leonard Nimoy told the directors that he felt that the Vulcans needed some type of way of greeting, so the director asked what he had in mind & he held up the Shin so the director told him to go with it & it stuck ever since. This hand sign is held up at certain times by Jewish priests and Rabbi while giving the priestly blessing.
Remember the letter Shin is associated with the name of God.
What is interesting is that God told David & Solomon that he would put his name on the land and He backs that statement up in the following seven verses!
1Kings 11:36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.
1Kings 14:21 And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there.
2Kings 21:4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
2Kings 21:7 And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever
2Chronicles 6:6 But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there;
2Chronicles 33:4 Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
2Chronicles 33:7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever
