'We Should Be Wary Of Our Free Speech Being Eroded!' Julia Hartley-Brewer On Democracy

A recent poll has revealed that a record number of US citizens are unsatisfied with the way democracy works in the country.

The poll by Gallup News revealed that a new low of 28% of American adults were satisfied with democracy in the country after it was recorded just 35% were satisfied after the January 6th Capitol riots.

It comes after current President Joe Biden warned that democracy could fall if Donald Trump wins a second term and returns to the White House.

Biden said: "“We’ve been blessed for so long with a strong, stable democracy, it’s easy to forget why so many before us risked their lives to strengthen democracy, if democracy falls, we’ll lose that freedom, lose the power of we, the people, to shape our destiny.”

TalkTV's Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by Dr Brian Klaas, associate professor of global politics at UCL, to discuss democracy in 2024 ahead of over 60 elections being held globally this year.
