What happens if you SAVE in the Mirage Island?

The island should be available only the day it's seen. This is what happens the day after it's seen by the old man.

I used to remember as a kid trying to get there and not believing it was real, the rumours in school was that Deoxys was there. And then I found out there is just a berry

The berry is most important once you get it, don't plant anything there. Wynaut is obtainable from the lavaridge town egg if you fail to catch one here.

The whole purpose of Mirage Island is to just nab the 1 out of a billion chance berries that grow exclusively on the island so you can take them to somewhere more manageable to grow into batches like that huge berry plantation south of Fortress where you can grow berries in sets of 16

When I played the game as a kid, while I was travelling to victory road, I randomly found the island without knowing anything about it.
My first reaction has been watching the map to see if I had mistaken route, then when I understood that I was in a place that shouldn't exist I felt frightned (after soon very disappointed, discovering that the island has only one berry and.. wynaut).

the game saves some of the data of what map you're on when you save your game, which is why you're on the island upon reloading, but as soon as that whole section leaves render distance, it's overwritten with whatever is in the ROM at that location on the map.

I found it once as a kid and didn’t think much of it. Went to find it the next day. It wasn’t there. Made me think I was all a dream

i remember just moving from one location to another, maybe i wanted to train or something, and then i am in an island, "weird, i could swear there wasn't a island here, maybe i took another route by mistake?" investigate a bit, find the berry and maybe a waynut, but is hard to remember. i went "huh, where is this on the map?" after checking it out, "well, i'll investigate later" and went on my way. later comes, and i start to search the island i'd found earlier. but there wasn't any. "did i dream that?" "it was a diffferent route?" but later i found the rayquaza tower, and it has a beach so i assumed "that must be what i found"
i did not knew about the island until a few years later, but with the event forgotten, it took me another few years to realize it was mirage island what i found and lost.

that's funny that it disappears the second you hit a loading zone, the same happens with the mirage islands in ORAS too, you can be on one the day after but when you take off on Latios/Latias it's gone

Mirage Island should have been the legit way to get Jirachi in generation 3

The same thing happens if you save in front of the blend master and wait for the day after to log in. He will still be there and you can blend with him as long as you dont leave the room :)

I think most people commented the same thoughts, but the chance of finding this island and the pay-off is ridiculously disappointing. Not sure why they didn’t decide to reward the player with a special Pokémon besides Wynaut, if you can call that special. Doesn’t even have to be a legendary or mythical. A guaranteed shiny like with the Lake of Rage would’ve been epic IMO
