This is how to paint a kitchen benchtop under $300 on a DIY budget.
I will show you step by step how to transform a kitchen area by simply painting the benchtop. Using Dulux renovations range we can paint over existing old worn out bench top to over 1000 different colors. Dulux renovation allows you to paint over tiles, laminate and cabinets to completely makeover you space on a do it yourself budget. save money and do it yourself over a weekend diy project. The product is fairly simple to use, just make sure you follow the instruction and as much as everyone hates cleaning, the countertop needs to be cleaned thoroughly to ensure the primer and paint will stick . Remove all oil, grease and dirt using Selleys sugar soap as per the instruction and apply the primer, top coats and clear coat using a 4 - 5 mm nap roller. Ensure you lay off the material to get a smooth finish. The most difficult part of this whole process is applying the clear coat. Be sure to lay off all material and adhere to the dry times between coats. Although you can choose not to apply the clear coat, the clear coat will ensure that the paint is scratch and chip resistant as much as possible.

Great idea. I am just following all these tutorials in order for my home improvement. The other day I patched some holes. This week, refresh the benchtop!

I didn't even know laminate benchtops could be painted. Was thinking about just replacing them. I think you've saved me quite a bit of money. Thanks!

Looks awesome!

I want to reno my bathroom. The tiles are in very good condition so I'm tossing up between the Magic Spray or painting it myself. I'd love a tutorial on painting tiles with the Dulux or White Knight products. I've seen their how to videos, but I'd like a user demo.

Bill this actually looks way better than I was expecting. New benchtops are much more expensive than most people would imagine. Can you explain what is the ideal temperature range to apply this product (i.e. probably not best to do in very hot or humid days)?

Is it just me, but now I say "Let's do this" before I tackle anything DIY.

I had a laminate bookcase that I repurposed to a footwear storage device. (Bad idea because the wife took it as a challenge to fill, nay *over* fill it and she did.) I found a special undercoat paint that primes it so you can then slap some standard water based paint on it. If it's ok with Bill and if anyone is interested plus if I can remember, I will post the name of the primer paint for the iron on laminate. It is *NOT* for use on laminated benchtops but for the cheapie iron on laminate.

Bill, was the kickboard already painted to match the new benchtop colour or was that just a fortunate coincidence?
Regarding good quality masking tape, I purchase 3M rolls from Bunnings at just under $10 a roll when I was following your Master Class on _How to Seal the Grout_ and the only thing that the 3M tape stuck to was my fingers and the paint on the ensuite wall when I was finishing a job the painter didn't do when the house was built 23 years ago. Of course the paint peeling may have been due to the painters only putting a single thin coat onto the plasterboard without any undercoat. 😡Was not impressed by that or the 3M tape but I always keep receipts so got a refund on four of the six rolls I purchased. 🥳

*Thank you* for the video Bill. Great and helpful as always. 👍
