On 10 October 2024, the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva adopted a resolution extending the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Russian Federation for another year. The resolution calls upon Russian authorities to establish full and non-selective engagement with all UN human rights mechanisms, including constructive communication and full cooperation with the mandate of the Special Rapporteur. It also calls upon the Russian Federation to refrain from all forms of intimidation and reprisal against persons and associations for their cooperation with these bodies.

The resolution was introduced by Luxembourg and on behalf of 26 other European countries. The United States of America and Japan expressed support to the work of the Special Rapporteur and highlighted the central role of the mandate. Cuba, Eritrea and China criticized the resolution and what they saw as an interference in the internal affairs of a State and called for a vote and to vote against it.

The resolution was adopted by 20 votes in favor, 8 votes against and 19 abstentions.

The war in the last days in Ukraine 🇺🇦.

And Russia to stop the war . Russia🇷🇺 must accept Ukraine 🇺🇦 as a member of the Slavic family without occupying it. With the closed borders between the two countries to avoid any military action that would harm the two countries.
