Even though I'm paying an arm and leg for insurance, I feel the same way over here. 🇺🇲
There really isn't preventative health care unless you're extremely wealthy. It feels like every doctor is trying to rush out of the room as soon as they enter. Any symptom you have "It's probably just anxiety or stress" then you have to wait weeks/months to get another appointment. I feel like I need a medical degree in order to ask the right questions since my doctors never seem to want to explore alternatives when they can find an answer the first time. It's defeating.

I live in Halifax, NS I slipped on wet tile in kitchen & hit my head very hard on edge of low wooden table. My daughter called paramedics who came and did some tests & said I appeared fine but I went with them to Emergency just in case, I'm 70. Emergency was full of people at 7.30pm. I waited 12 hours in emerg. At 3am I needed more painkillers & ice cause my head was hurting, nurse took pity on me and gave me a room with a bed to sleep as Dr. wouldnt be there till morning. He came at 7.30am did some basic checks said I was ok. I asked about scan etc. he said if there was a problem it would have shown up by now. OMG He just said to watch for symptoms of concussion. Waiting times in Emergency are insane because of lack of doctors. I have a family doctor but it can take 2 months to see her, if I want immediate attention I go to a walk in clinic, there's always a long line up & I go one or two hours before it opens to line up so I can get in.

If you haven't already, would love to learn more about the differences in healthcare in Seoul vs. Nova Scotia. I live in the US and healthcare is also a hot mess here. My focus now is taking care of myself to prevent future visits to the hospital, as much as possible.

I am from Korea, and I am living in Edmonton Canada. I am unsatisfied with the healthcare system. It is very hard to see a specialist in Canada. When I was in Koean I could pick a specialist who has a good reputation. I really miss😢

I had no idea it was so bad in Canada... I always dreamt of moving to Canada one day. I live in Germany and health care feels pretty decent here. I dont make enough use of it. Emergency room wait times are mostly the same, as described in the other comment, though. But that probably cant be helped. My parents make good use of the health care system here. They have private health insurance, which is one of two systems on offer here. People with public health insurance always say "private health insurance is where all the unnecessary preventative stuff is applied", cause people with public health inaurance also only get what is perceived as absolutely unavoidable. But there are certain basics, which everybody gets ... including cancer prevention depending on age and gender and annual blood screens...

People with private health insurance tend to get more advanced and exotic stuff, including reimbursement for supplements, painkillers and teeth cleanings. But they have to pay everything out of pocket first. Then they will be reimbursed by their insurance depending on the individual contract. Usually the insurance pays for everything, which was prescribed by an MD.
