Vice President Kamala Harris, who replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic presidential ticket, made an unannounced appearance at the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where she rallied the crowd and thanked Biden for his service in a decades-long career as a lawmaker in Washington.
