Action 5 pro / Hero 13 / Ace Pro / Action 4 / Low Light ... which is best?

So this is what it is... you can see the difference in the low light modes.
No footage was enhanced (except when i added exposure to all for example)
Which looked the best to you? Also Ace Pro 2 comes out soon and I will compare that footage when it does.

It keeps getting darker by the minute, and at some point, it gets too extreme 😀 In a real action scenario, low light usually means shade from trees or dusk. So with that in mind, I'd go for the OA5 or OA4 for both MTB and travel vlogging. I was hoping you'd compare log profiles too because the OA5 definitely has the most potential if you use the right settings. Thanks for giving us the comparisons we ask for 👍

This is the most realistic low light comparison of these action cams that I've seen, especially with the very low light and using the key light. Thanks!

Excellent review! Possibly the best video I've seen comparing the difference between cameras for a given problem scenario.

Why am i feeling the action4 is the best one, since no view would be filmed in pure dark, circumstances with light on indoors are more common in vlogging.

I guess GoPro aren’t trying to compete In low light as they don’t offer any low light modes

Hmmm, I’d have to say the ace pro wins. Curious what the ace pro 2 will bring to the table

I've owned DJI since the original Osmo Action and I must say I'm a HUGE fan of the Ace Pro. I'll still take it over the Action 5 and am really looking forward to the Ace Pro 2

The ace pro would win hands down if it was focused. Thanks for sharing.

People definitely needs to watch this on 4K! I love my DJI Action 5 Pro but Ace Pro is great too, Coming soon that Ace Pro 2 it might kill them all tho. (Action 4 still is awesome for most people)

Ace Pro vote here too... only because of those weird red tones on the Action 5. Ace Pro looks more balanced.
OTOH it makes me laugh how people compare these cams to full rigged dslrs or same.
For chrissakes, these action cams are for YTers and to *complete* footage on more serious shoots, not *compete* against the "bigger" cams!

Thanks for the review! The ace pro and the action 5 pro are the clear winners. As others have said, I'm eagerly waiting to see what the ace pro2 will do. If insta360 can do better battery life AND better bluetooth connection with mics (dji mic2), then just sell everything else and get the ace pro2.

Ace pro still wins in low light. Leaks indicate they will be reducing the minimum focus distance in the Ace Pro 2. Low light is arguably the most important factor in any camera because they all perform similarly now in good lighting. I find myself bringing my action cam to the beach or around water and then I might go to a restaurant, the sun starts setting or there is a thunderstorm and I want to keep recording. It doesn't have to be for night vlogging in a cave.

Could you show us what it looks like, you know, in low light but also a little bit of lights coming at ya?

The comparison we needed. OA4 user, most probably I won't upgrade

Having a Hero12 myself (so it's actually not much of a difference with the 13...), and it probably will be the worst of all due to it's slightly smaller image sensor yes. It's just a hard fact that it will be less capable of receiving light.
But it can actually do so much better then this.

I believe those other camera's do have special "low light" modes" right? The gopro hasn't. But you actually need to tweak some settings in the advanced settings.
Myself crank up different settings there, like ISO, resolution and decreased FPS from 60 to 30, so it has a bit more time to capture light on it's frames. And I believe some other settings. And then saved it as a low-light preset.

And it actually works pretty well that way. Image may look a bit grainy and stabilization does not seem to work verry well then. But the image is some kind of usable then.
I even made a some videos in pitch black mines and caves with it, since I did not had a better option at the moment. But the footage actually came out pretty usable. I was afraid the footage would have been completely useless, but it came out not that verry badly.

I guess that Hero13 should actually look a bit more like the Action 4 footage then, when tweaking it's settings a bit.

I agree with most, Ace Pro holds good color. We'll done!

Appreciated. What’s a key light please?

The colors are the Ace Pro look the most realistic as well as looking the most decent at night. The Ace Pro 2 should blow the others away.
