Beesley, Kansas unjustly get the tease of the flattest state, but that 'honor' actually goes to Florida. Kansas is #28 flattest, so there are 22 states flatter.
Going with the crocodile theme started at Louisiana's segment, when I was on vacation in FL back in June, I had fried gator tail, and later, something called gator bites. Both were sooo good. Massachusetts, in addition to Harvard, has MIT.
Montana is also called Big Sky Country, and it seems like it fits very well when you're there.
Actually, the place with the largest Amish population is Holmes County, Ohio.
Oregon is also known as the setting for a very funny musical, "7 brides for 7 brothers".
South Dakota is also known for their own unique cuisine, which I sampled a few years ago on vacation. is it good. South Dakota's tribe that was mentioned is the Sioux, but in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a border city named Sault St. Marie, and it's also pronounced 'sue'.
Monument Valley in Utah is on the Navajo Reservation, which has a number of jawdroppingly beautiful places.
The volcano which erupted in the '80s is Mt. St. Helens.
Texas was a country from 1836 (the year of the Battle of the Alamo) to 1845, which is why it's called the Lone Star State.
Where I live--in Illinois, we say when we go into Wisconsin, that we're crossing the Cheddar Curtain (humorously referencing the Iron Curtain of the Cold War days).

Delaware has no international airport but has a few domestic airports, Delaware is also home to one of the most important Air Force bases on the east coast, and a large percentage of big American companies are incorporated in Delaware.

There really are 3 history states, Virginia, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. In addition to being the best center of US universities, Boston, Massachusetts is also arguably the world's leading city in medical innovation (equivalent to London, Paris and Tokyo) and is America's "city of firsts". We even got a subway before New York City!

Very important and interesting fact about Delaware: The state has more corporate headquarters than actual civilians. Not sure how geography guy missed that. It's the nation's domestic tax haven.

Alligator. Season opens soon here in Louisiana. Finally because my freezer is running low on gator meat.

Take this with a grain of salt. There is plenty to love in every single state, as well as plenty to dislike if that’s the way you want to look at it. Each state has its own charm.

I live in Maryland by the Delaware line. Delaware does have an airport. Wilmington Airport but it is small the only commercial flight are frontier if there still even flying from there. But its for private jets.

Delaware here. I think the airport reopened. However, when you are 45 minutes from Philadelphia and 60 minutes from Baltimore you don't need it. This state is only 96 miles long and 39 miles at its widest. The US President lives here, but there is so much more!

1:43 - Yes, Alabama was the home of the original capital of the Confederacy (Montgomery), but it's NOT exactly where the Confederacy started, as South Carolina was the first state to secede from the union, and that's also where the U.S. Civil War started (e.g. the bombardment of Fort Sumpter!)

I'm from Arkansas, and I can say that the dog thing is so accurate! I grew up with 5 dogs at one time, and everyone I know owns at least 1 dog. I know people with up to 7 or 8 dogs at this moment!

How I always found there to be so much of a difference between the 50 states vs other regions in other countries is that while in those places, many of them are all part of the same ethnic group or had been unified for thousands of years and mixed up so much, the 50 states all aren't that old and since we're an immigrant country, different places were influenced by different people. In the US, travelling to a different state feels like a different country. I think that's why they're more often compared to the EU and terms of cultural differences between each other.

Texas won its independence from Mexico in 1836 and joined the US after 10 years in 1845, and that’s more or less (oversimplified) what started the Mexican-American war. If you’ve ever heard of the Alamo, that battle was a part of the war of Texan independence

Just want to note: while the East side of Michigan (aka Detroit/Flint/etc.) Has massively declined, the West side has been growing rapidly. It's one of the best places in the country to raise a family according to some study I saw a while back, and we're known for having tons of good craft beer, though those two facts kinda contradict each other now that I think about it. As you get more north in the state and out of the farmlands, there are some amazingly beautiful natural forests and sand dunes, not to mention the beaches. We've got some of the best beaches in the world that aren't on an ocean.

That was a gator, not a crocodile. While there are certain types of crocodiles in America, alligators are much more widespread.

And they taste like chicken. Gorgeous.
