Python Tutorial [Full Course]. Lambda Expressions in Python along with (zip, map & filter) part 22

Показать описание
Lambdas, also known as anonymous functions, are small, restricted functions which do not need a name (i.e., an identifier). ... Today, many modern programming languages like Java, Python, C#, and C++ support lambda functions to add functionality to the languages.
In Python, anonymous function means that a function is without a name. As we already know that def keyword is used to define the normal functions and the lambda keyword is used to create anonymous functions. It has the following syntax lambda arguments: expression
1.This function can have any number of arguments but only one expression, which is evaluated and returned.
2. One is free to use lambda functions wherever function objects are required.
3. You need to keep in your knowledge that lambda functions are syntactically restricted to a single expression.
4. It has various uses in particular fields of programming besides other types of expressions in functions.
The filter() method constructs an iterator from elements of an iterable for which a function returns true. In simple words, the filter() method filters the given iterable with the help of a function that tests each element in the iterable to be true or not.
map() function returns a map object(which is an iterator) of the results after applying the given function to each item of a given iterable (list, tuple etc.) Parameters : fun : It is a function to which map passes each element of given iterable. iter : It is a iterable which is to be mapped.
Python's zip() function is defined as zip(*iterables) . The function takes in iterables as arguments and returns an iterator. This iterator generates a series of tuples containing elements from each iterable. zip() can accept any type of iterable, such as files, lists, tuples, dictionaries, sets, and so on
