Sim vs Reality | Driving a Ginetta G40 Junior | Project CARS

On my visit to Silverstone, not only was I there to watch the Ginetta G57 doing some testing, but to also drive a Ginetta G40 Junior around the Silverstone International circuit in order to get a feel for the differences of driving the car in a racing sim, compared to real life. Here is the footage and my thoughts of driving in racing sims compared to real life.

If you're not getting into racing fulltime, I'd seriously suggest you try it out as a commentator. It seems to come naturally to you and you're a pleasure to listen to.

Terrible conditions, the top guys from Ginetta present and sat next to the actual owner of the car. No bloody pressure then!! What an amazing opportunity and a lovely gesture on their part. You had a more lengthy stint than I was expecting and the 'thumbs up' from Russel became more frequent as you grew in confidence. Great stuff.

I hope to hit the track soon as I am still in the edge of the age to start professional driving (16). I must say your videos really pushed me forward to it. What I really like about your videos (apart from the awesome racing) is that you talk ALL THE TIME but it _NEVER_ gets annoying. No nonsense talk. Love it!

wow that 40-ish minutes flew by. Spent most of my time staring at the shifting lol. So satisfying hearing the *thunk as you change gear. Also the transmition whine. Lots of thumbs up from Russell, i'm sure he was glad you kept it on the track in these conditions.

Since you kept this quiet, i imagine the next vid will be you driving the G57 :P

had the pleasure of joining ur p cars server last night at belgium for two hours. had a fan boy moment when u overtook me down kemmel... i completely agree. seeing these cars in anger, 10 times difference between. smells and sounds. my in law races maxda mx5 and pities me for never driving in the real world. watching him drive past me at 80mph down the straights of snetterton last november, meters from me, i can only just get the sense of FEAR you speak of. love ur commentaries on all ur vids. AOR expecially.

Another excellent video mate. I agree with what you said about the FFB. I like to have it really light so you can feel everything happening with the car. I laugh at the people over at PC forums, who listen to that self proclaimed king of FFb setups, ace of spades or whatever his name is. The guys setups are absolutely rubbish. Everything is cranked up to its maximum, sheer brutality no feel.

Love the Ginetta's in p cars.The Ginetta GT3 is probably my fave GT3 car in p cars.
Watched onboard videos of the real Ginetta GT3 and it looks like Slightly mad studios absolutely nailed the handling and car behavior of that car. Really well simulated.

Nice vid yorkie. Your racing is always close to impeccable sim or real now lol, you are eloquent, passionate, a petrol head, the thumbnails and channel are looking more streamline and this extra content is great. Great edit on the vid, after your slo mo thumbs up it might have been nice to see a thank you shot of the guys that made it possible or were they camera shy? Keep it up mate. Love to race in your leagues but I'm 599xx on the PS4😔

nice drive in the wet!  I did 2 track days in the wet with my DC5, you are right to tip toe around at first to get a good read on the track.  I did 20 mins and pulled back to the pits.  my track car is my daily driver.

I think I would be very much the same as yourself in terms of the fear factor of binning someone else's race car.
Wish it had been dry for you and I'm sure you could have had a good go at giving it a solid push!

Nice one Yorkie, I'm a light FFB user too. A lot of guys I race with just don't get it. Of course it's personal but you just get no dynamic when it's heavy. Great vid maan!
