Today we have my 2021 Subaru WRX STI, my long term ownership thoughts and experience. Is this car still relevant in 2024? Would you still pick this over a GR Corolla, Civic Type R or a mint Evo X? What are my plans for this car and will I be keeping this forever? The answer is yes and yes. Stick around for this winded review and let me know what are you thoughts. As always, hope you enjoy this video

Literally what I always tell people. Leave it alone and it runs great for a long time, just keep to the maintenance schedule.

You're 100% accurate about the type R not being an all season vehicle.

After two years and multiple hydroplaning in the type R, I was planing on buying a 2022 WRX STI but Subaru didn't make one.

Then the GR Corolla was announced but took forever to hit the dealerships. Needless to say the 2022 WRX peaked my interest and now I have a 2023 WRX. This vehicle is an all season, daily driver, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

In a few years I will buy a VA WRX STI, to join the stable.

Enjoy your STI and thanks for sharing!

Same! 2021 STI stock. No need to prove anything to anyone. A reliable daily perk to go to work. Only complaint is the latest infotainment firmware that limited sound adjustments.

I got my 2021 Sti last summer with only 690 miles on it! The previous owner had it garage kept, so I really found a unicorn considering the Sti’s are no longer produced. Also the RA block that it comes with is a cherry on top

Im never going to sell my Bluebaru STI. I had the 2017 WRX before i updated to the 2020 STI. I love the Subaru platform. Im never doing any power mods to the car. Its perfect the way it is. I get compliments on my Bluebaru all the time. Subies forever.😊

Quality opening and very nice flowing video! I drive a 1998 coupe. I love my 90/2000 cars but this generation of wrx is growing on me. Going to watch your other update now! Great content!

just bought a 2021 sti same colour, 6 weeks ago, 8 n half k on the clock and $40k later, wanted an sti since I was 20 in 2001. I'm doing reliability mods only. List; Mishi radiator, Grimmspeed Radiator Hoses, IAG AOS, Killer B thermo housing, Grimmspeed V2 BPV, IAG oil pan/baffle plate/pick up tube, and not for reliability but just because Grimmspeed pitch stop mount. I've married up a COBB Access port just for monitoring purposes only.

Edit: when I wrote the above up, I did fit a 4th cyl cooling mod too.

Love my car and hopefully my last car!

I've had a 2021 STI for the past year. It's my daily, but i like taking it to same backroads and gravel tracks for some fun. Besides a singular oil leak at my turbo return drain pipe, it has been absolutely perfect. It does everything I need it to while also being an absolute joy to drive.

Nice man. I was a big Subaru guy and i'm coming back full circle. Started off with my Hondas and on my 3rd S2000 as a weekend car with a TRD Pro 4runner as a daily and RS7 as a weekend date night car. Thinking about getting rid of the 4runner for another STI as a daily. My 2006 Sti was one of my favorite cars that i've owned and I still regret selling it.

As someone who has owned a 2012 WRX since new, my advice has always been buy as cheap as possible. While the STIs are great cars, I struggle to view them as a value, as they simply have always had more competition in their price range. As time has progressed the performance hasnt kept up with the competition. The base WRX only competes with the GTI and that has been the case for nearly two decades. Lastly, owners of 2.5L EJ motors please check your oil levels monthly and change your oil every 5k miles not every 7.5k miles like the maintenance schedule use to recommend.

Ive had my 2021 STI brand new since May of 2021. I have no regrets with the purchase of the car, its fun, practical, and looks great. So far ive pretty much done either aesthtic mods/suspension. As for mods under the hood, I've only done the reliability mods such as the CSF Radiator, iAG AOS, Cyl 4 Cooling mod, and an iAG Comp Series oil pan/pickup combo. The car has been pretty much stock in terms of power for the past almost 3 years, but I plan on changing that probably in a year!

I have been enjoying my 2018 50th anniversary edition. Was surprised it was un-modded, and that's the way it's staying!

I was thinking of buying an STI (I used to own a 2015 wrx.), but I couldn't really deal with the gas mileage and the engine reliability as well. I went ahead and got a GR Corolla. It's the best of both worlds. I hope your STI will treat you well for years to come!

Had a Evo X MR in 2013 and a Evo X GSR in 2016. I never mod my cars to high power. I couldn’t daily the GSR because of the high rpms in fifth gear and the MR was an automatic and the transmission was expensive. Wanted a six speed car so got a STI in 2017. Never wanted a type r because of FWD. Still have it the STI. Has equal headers, 20g turbo, Recaro SR7 seats, Cusco bracing underneath, Fortune Auto coils with swift springs, Volk CE28SL and all the bushings/mounts for the steering/brakes/transmission and engine. I have it perfectly balanced for perfect low end power and a solid suspension set up.

Hey so loveedd this video and here’s why. Great shots of the car love this thing so much and I like your color! I have a 2021 STI that I bought brand new back in May 2021. So just hit 3 years with it and let me tell you…. It’s been amazing. Mine is black! I drive the hell out of this thing! I’m at 43K miles and it’s my daily driver! I’ve done countless road-trips I’ve even slept In it multiple times with my fiancé. Car camping is possible in it! It’s been my dream car and I’m completely stock. Oil changes every 3.5K miles and it’s been nothing but reliable! I never plan to sell it and I want to keep it forever.

I love my 2017 WRX, also thinking to get a 2021 STi since it is the most complete VA STi. Wish me luck finding a good deal on STi 😂

Silver '21 STI in AZ here. Bought mine new so there wouldnt be any doubts about its history. Only issue I had so far was the Starlink module killing my battery. I work very close to home so I only have about 5k on the clock. But of course, I have that all important reliability mods list ready to go when the time comes. First thing I did was window tint. I've replaced the shifter bushings for improved feel, added a catback system and a 4th brake light. I have a pitch stop mount waiting to be installed too. Be safe & enjoy the drive.
