hey I don’t recommend you take him to bed that late.. midnight is sooo late. I’ve had 4 dogs haha and all my vets have told me that especially as a puppy, they need to go to bed early! It will also help you in the long run, when they are not up late causing mess haha.

You need to let him sleep because thats when his brain is processing everything he's learning while he's awake and it's when he grows. Eventually he'll sleep less and his sleep schedule will naturally fall into place. Also you don't want a grumpy puppy if he's tired lol.

Sometimes if a dog smells a spot where they've peed before in the house, they'll pee there again! Idk if you use any kind of spray/detergent already, but Nature's Miracle is really good!

Puppies go through so many stages! Consistency is so key, even if they seem perfect with one aspect of training, it's pretty common for them to do a complete 180, particularly if you let your guard down. Enforced naps in the crate during the day are a lifesaver with soo many things (potty training, crate training, calmness, biting, being able to leave them alone in the house, etc.)

We also for our puppy when we first got him, we let him eat around 6 and drink, but then we would take his water away around 8pm so that he wouldn't have to go as much at night!

tip for training especially crate training is making his crate his place. never put him in there if he has been bad. so he know when he is in it he knows to relax and chill. also look for training class if they are even available right now that do good enforcement training/ clicker training. my sister dog did it and he is great. He is very cute and so happy for you guys!!

Hey Gretchen! Love the puppy vlogs :) I just wanted to share this with you since it is something I recently learned about dogs and ice cubes and it was posted by a vet saying the following "Giving ice cubes to a dog in the heat has the opposite effect of cooling. The canine anterior hypothalamus is triggered to warm up the body because it recognizes something icy cold has been absorbed and subsequently the bodily temperature rises to compensate for this. In extreme heat a dogs temperature needs to be reduced gradually" I just thought I would share this because it is something I didn't even think of either for my dog but I've not learned it can be harmful.

My golden doodle loves laying on the tile floor in our house when it’s hot. In the winter when we have the fireplace on upstairs you can find him on the cold tile at the front door when he gets too hot. Didn’t realize other dogs did this but it makes so much sense!
