As large, flightless birds, ostriches lack teeth, which makes it challenging for them to break down the tough plant material they typically eat. To compensate for this, they swallow small stones, known as gastroliths, which reside in a specialized part of their stomach called the gizzard.

Mostly all aves means birds eat stone because in their stomach they don’t have chewed food so they eat grit ( pabbles ) which help to make food into small pieces so food easy digested additionally they have crop ( for storage, swollen oesophagus) and gizzard ( muscular stomach )
