I was expecting her to say "but I gave them a pizza party"

I felt the pain when she laughed and said "I'm just kidding I need the money" omg.

That sincere outburst, followed by a manic laugh, followed by 'I'm just kidding, I need the money' was too real for me.

We have been so short staffed i have actively laughed at my management to their faces when they ask something unreasonable from me. We both know they cant afford to lose me so they have been real nice now that i have my new found attitude

“Did you give them basic human dignity?”
“No I gave them a pizza party. 1 slice per person. No toppings”

"Idk why everyone quits" fails to see how toxic of a leader they are.

Real talk tho, had toxic leadership who after firing me, wanted me to drop everything to come back 4 weeks later to train my replacement. Wanted to talk to my new employer to tell them how awful i was for not meeting their demands and wanted to fire me from my new job, No, No and you have NO POWER to do so for any of that. Sent owner a copy of the recorded call to deal with both ex-managers.

O e thing walmart does is constantly tell their employees how terrible they are doing despite the higher than last year sales. It's always like "we are 75% higher this year than last year, but we know that number could of course be higher, so let's aim to get there and try our best". I got so sick and tired of it that I interrupted the manager and told them to stop with the criticism and to stop wasting our time with the huddles if all they were going to do was tell us that we were not doing enough despite the clear sign of higher sales than the previous year and that no employee wants to be told that nothing they do is good enough but maybe they can give more regardless. The very next huddle we did like 2 weeks later was the polar opposite and they instead told everyone how great they were doing, calling out specific associates and commenting on things that made them stand out in a good way and wouldn't you know it everyone's mood was greatly improved. All it takes is some positive reinforcement and employees will be less likely to quit. It baffles me why it's so hard for managers to just understand that associates are people too and that we all have problems in life we struggle with and to be called worthless at work is just another thing to make us unhappy and less likely to stay.

This hit way harder than I was expecting. Every single point is spot on

I was actually told by a manager that the best incentive was keeping our jobs. Not very productive for a customer service centered job.

Management needs to offer the following three things: Existential Fulfillment, Monetary Compensation, and positive mental health impact. If one of those three things is out of balance, the other two need to compensate for it. If it doesn't, then you no longer have an employee.

I had a boss like this. Glad that sentence is past tense

“But they’re offered to enter a raffle for a 10-dollar-gift card for not taking off sick days for 6 months in a row!”

"Did you make goals attainable?" Hit me like a ton of bricks.

I always feel like Im bad at my job because I can never complete all the tasks Im given and my boss gets mad at me for it constantly. I come away from every meeting feeling really depressed cuz he just gave me 2 months worth of work and one week to complete it. Its getting harder and harder to find the motivation to even try. I need a new job.

"You're doing an amazing job, so I set your goals even higher."

Seriously screw the manager that did that to me and all managers who do that to anyone.

Most managers wouldn't admit that they are being toxic to their employees and would not even consider that they would be a part of the problem.

My boss isn't even aware of the memability of promising free pizza when everyone expects a bonus.

I've found that pretty frequently threatening to quit will get what I want. I ask for a raise I've earned, put in for vacation time, complain about another employee doing drugs in the bathroom and then acting like a psycho, and they say anything other than you've got it, I follow up with a two week notice. It's amazing how fast they suddenly have a solution to the problem they couldn't solve just moments prior. If they still say no then they never valued me as a person or employee and I don't finish my two weeks

I've gotten to the point where I professionally call out my bosses to their faces when they act toxic like that. I know my value and my rights as a worker, and so do they. They don't want me to quit nor have a lawsuit on their hands, so they listen and adjust accordingly.
