after the toxic derailment blocked traffic (and revenue) for 2 days, "we" blew it up ... reopening the rail at the expense of everything around it.

'Data driven safety' is a euphemism for 'Trial and error'.

When trump got rid of ALL regulations. He basically said he doesn't care about anyone or anything.

The only way Ted Cruise shed a tear over this was if someone paid him too. I don't think it's humanly possible for anyone to be as completely disingenuous as he is.

Why doesn't every rail car that carries hazardous material have a extinguisher of some type or something to help with the spread of chemicals

Something needs done about the railways along the Ohio river close to Marietta before this happens again

Ted Cruz wants to know if there's a reasonable technical impediment to letting the train crew know if bearings are overheating. Is he serious? He's suggesting that they can detect temperature changes and transmit that data thousands of miles away, but there is a technical impediment that won't let the crew know. Wow. Cars have had temperature gauges for decades that notify the driver. It's clear that railroad company don't want crews to control when they stop - *the impediment is profit driven safety avoidance* . There is no technological impediment in notifying the crew. And the exec had a slick answer, and Ted Cruz went along with that answer. Enough. All deregulation ever leads to is maximizing profits and minimizing consumer protections.
