Residents who isolate themselves do get lonely.
Greetings,
I’m Pieta Valentine from Christchurch New Zealand.
Granny in a Dementia Unit:
Video Shorts outline…
These reenactments are of granny and her grand daughter having detailed discussions in a mock dementia unit which is based on my work with dementia residents as a diversional therapist and as a physiotherapist treating patients with dementia.
All video scripts are stemming from my observations, experiences, research, reading and conversations with these dementia affected people.
GRANNY FOR THE PEOPLE:
Dementia-unit and dementia-resident specific, Granny explains the challenging and colourful life that goes on within the dementia unit.
Granny being an elderly, opinionated, delightful woman (herself with Alzheimer’s dementia but still with high level cognitive function) living in the dementia unit.
She has a loyal grand daughter (a physio student) who visits regularly.
All is explained with their lively conversations.
The dementia unit problems that Granny and her resident-colleagues face on a daily basis are discussed as are the many and varied positive solutions that Granny and grand daughter suggest for these multitudinous challenges.
Conclusion:
Family so often want to help their relative in the dementia unit, but don’t have access to the information or the tools to know how.
But Here ….Step by Step… they can,
by viewing and applying the positive tips and techniques suggested in the ‘Granny for the People’ videos.
