the thing with puzzles and mechanics is that you should count not just every instance of said mechanics occurring in your game but also in every other game it appeared and guess the amount of games out of that number your player already had experienced

i only tolerated limbo because it never repeats itself, i can't tolerate spunkgurgleweewee genre because i already played several games in it and continue to forcing myself through every COD; while every game in the genre is exactly the same and have same interactive narrative, no matter 1st or 3rd person or even if it tries to pretend to be something else, like specopsloine

games are interactive media, in the end

I'm not against minimalism, but in my opinion, Limbo and Inside have the depth of a puddle. There's no gameplay to back up such a limited story, and no replayability. It didn't resonate at all for me. I seriously think they're popular because they offer a different experience that can be played with minimal effort.
