Engine Bay Tour of the 1989 Ford Probe GT

Our last tour for the 1989 Ford Probe GT, a quick going over of the major engine components, request for some help, and getting ready for fuel system work.

I had one. 89 until 97. Never had to take advantage, but appreciated the hatch under the back seat over the fuel pump.

Hi, the connectors next to the windshield wiper motor are diagnosing connectors IIRC where you can plug in some special diagnosing tool from Ford. You can also get the car into diagnose mode by bridging some connection there it then will blink error-codes through the check-engine-light.
One of the other small connectors by the strut-tower possibly for the shock adjustment motors, maybe you don't have them in the front anymore?
If you remove that rubber cover on the strut tower you'll see either motors or well, no motors.
There are quite a few open connectors on those probes though depending on options and country and engine-spec there's quite a bit of unused wiring harness.. So don't get too concerned if you find open connectors and nothing to plug into..
That fuel filter obviously isn't original and I guess points rather clearly towards fuel issues regarding the non-running condition of the car.
ps. if you can't get the fuel pump running, not 100% sure if the first gen has it aswell but the second gen has a crash detection switch that disabled the fuel system and sometimes they false-detected when driving over big bump or something :D

The mazda626gt version of this car had adjustable shocks in front with buttons inside for adjustment. They probably used same wiring harness for models that did and didn't have that system
I had the mx6 version, fun car. Lots of torque for lil engine
It's a timing belt system

You may need to check the following parts:
Mass Air Flow Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Idle speed control
Fuel Pump Shut-Off Switch
Ford Probe Fuel Pressure Fuel Pressure 27-40 PSI

Distributor Cap and Rotor

ICM-module
FPC-Solenoid
