Fun fact: Sonic was technically introduced first because he was in a cameo appearance in the game *Rad Mobile* released in October of 1990 and Yoshi was introduced in the game *Super Mario World* on November 21, 1990.

So Sonic actually first appeared in a game called Rad Mobile as a mirror ornament in October 1990, about a month before Yoshi's first appearance in Super Mario World. This means Sonic technically appeared on the gaming scene before Yoshi.
