Super Mario Odyssey Playthrough Part 1: A Game Worth Revisiting (for now...)

From the idiot that brought you dozens of hours of embarrasing F-ZERO 99 footage comes another playthrough; this time of an early Nintendo Switch title that gained a formidable reputation since launch. Super Mario Odyssey is without a doubt a fantastic platformer with fun gimmicks and a variety of levels much like the average Mario game but I was never really big on it and to this day see it nowhere near my favorites of the franchise. Its a fun game with too much to do and I see that as the game's biggest weakness. I'm used to 3D Mario games with 120-240 main objective collectables to where I can comfortably 100% them at my leisure and Odyssey is nowhere near "comfortable" to complete. I don't mind replaying it to get all the purple coins in each area and unlocking the darker side final level but even at that point most players will not have obtained everything. The hint art mechanic is one cardinal sin I can argue about but I won't put myself through the tedium immediately. This playthrough will be me exploring and enjoying the game at my own rate where I intend to collect enough to reach the post-game finale. If I decide to go for 999 moons (aka 880 with repetitive coin-grinding) then it will be long after this playthrough is finished as I don't have the time or energy to be playing videogames all the time anymore.

Long story short I'll have fun playing this game but will be hesitant to complete it. It's a good game but far from the best in the series (I grew up with the Galaxy titles and love them to death) so replaying it will at least remind me of what I enjoyed of it. I'll stop ranting like a redditor for now lol enjoy the gameplay!
