Chris talking about the concept of old in Europe and Africa reminded me of the saying, "Europeans think 100 miles is a long distance, and Americans think 100 years is a long time".

I like Alternate History Hub as generally they’re careful not to go too far from the actual events because it can go from alternative history to total fiction quickly. If that makes sense.

One of my favorite quotes "An Englishman thinks a hundred miles is a long way; and American thinks a hundred years is a long time"

Hello Chris. I genuinely appreciate you so so much. You have single handedly let me pass my History class, and you've really opened me up to different sides of history, and your unbiased look on everything has changed my pov on a ton of issues. Thanks VTH! I will always watch your vids!

Alternate history is a fun way to study history in sort of a reverse-engineering kind of way. For example, asking "what if Germany won WW2?" Well, you can't really explore that question without having to answer why they **didn't** win. So, by exploring the alternate reality, you are also deconstructing events in a causal way rather than building a narrative.

To clarify, Canada has a population of 36.5 million. California has 38.5 million. A lot of Canada further north is difficult to inhabit thanks to the geography and weather.

And yes, what would become Canada was pretty much born out of opposition to the US. The War of 1812 helping to further it. Even to this day, a lot of the politics revolves around staying Canadian. For example, very little American tv stations, food brands, artists on the radio, phone and internet services from the states are restricted or not allowed at all. A really interesting question for how it would affect Canada, if the US didn't exist.

Great Video from both channels! One thing I'd say is that Australia had already been discovered by the Dutch in 1606, however it's history would have been vastly altered as its role as a penal colony. Perhaps the Dutch settle it and today we would be called New Holland.

I am an American, my father was in the American military and stationed in Canada, so I grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. Those in New Brunswick were known and still known as the Loyalists. Our history book in high school was entitled, "The Loyal Americans".

Do not forget, without Napoleon, we might not have found the Rosetta stone, which means no Egyptology. Probably not as influential as a lot of other stuff said but still a fun fact.

Love Alternate History Hub. While as you said, you can't say for certain what alternate timelines would look like, I love how thoroughly he backs up his theories. Very interesting to think about these what ifs!

Speaking of ancestry, I was adopted and basically before I was born so I’ve never known anybody but my parents. Because of that we never really knew what nationality I was or heritage if you will. So I did ancestry and just last week I found my biological sister, so that’s neat.

I agree I think people should stop making fun of France because they surrendered in ww2 especially Americans because with out a France America might not have won the revolutionary war

Thank you for all of the content I'm pretty sure I remember you doing a Rachels challenge presentation when I was in school. It's so cool that you ended up doing this on YouTube.

Thank you for being one of maybe four YouTubers who correctly pronounces Appalachia, from a Virginian!

Love your reactions and all your videos since finding your channel. It really sparked my interest in history. I try to talk to many friends about it but I find that some of them sadly don't care at all and find it a bit nerdy, but I don't care nonetheless. History is important and fun. Keep up the good work :D

Nice to know that being of French Canadian descent that there is a chance I still would be here. It’s fun to think about how are live would be different if the US didn’t exist. This was fun and interesting. Makes you stop and think how lucky we really are.👍🙂
