You missed THIS in It’s a Wonderful Life. For the scene where Mary throws a rock at the Granville house and breaks a window, a marksman was hired to shoot the window at the exact moment the rock hit it to make sure it broke. But the actress, Donna Reed, had played baseball in high school and broke the window all on her own.

Director :"we have someone to break it for you, you don't have to hit it"
Mary :" *I DON'T HAVE SUCH WEAKNESSES* "

Also it was not in the script for George Bailey to cry in the “prayer scene” at the bar director Frank Capra was surprised when Stewart broke down but didn’t do another take because it was so real.
This is what J. Stewart said about that scene…

“I remember when I read the first draft of the script, and that scene, the little prayer, affected me. When I did it in the movie it did, and it did the same to me right now. This is a theory that I’ve always had; creating moments in movies, this I think is the important thing. Nobody knows exactly how it happens. What you should do is to prepare yourself as best as you can to make these moments happen. Because in a movie it’s really not so much the performance, there are moments.”

When they used to take practical effects so seriously that they had on-set snipers for Christmas movies, way before Die Hard. And Donna Reed did her own stunts.

How did I miss this? Should I have spotted the marksman behind the camera?

I watched it HD for the first time last night and noticed that when alternate Bert was shooting at George, he shoots out some of the lights on the sign "Pottersville"

Donna Reed was a total babe who didn’t need to overplay the femininity angle.
