Spectacular presentation. Couldn't agree more. We can't afford big losses like Greece, especially in this crucial moment. Our current focus should be on developing the economy especially in the section of GDP per capita, where we are still quite behind other countries.

If we want to motivate the country through sports, then I think we should focus on football as we already have the people for that, now we need the infra and training for them to show the rest of the world that we can be just as good as the already existing global powerhouses. Even India just reaching for the world cup finals will inspire the nation a lot more than the Olympics.

India needs a boost in their sports sector, in that way it's necessary to host olympics.Other sports need to be prioritized here, you have multi billion dollar cricket industry which has too much monopoly, hence hosting olympics might give them boost.

Billions of worth of money shall be invested in infrastructure development that could boost the economy of the country rather than a month long event hosting which serves no major purpose other than sports.

I absolutely don’t want Olympics in India. Look at the previous countries that hosted it. They made zero gains, infact lost billions. It has zero value.

I think, the right comparison would be with China hosting the 2009 Olympics. I would argue that the Olympics would be a big boost to the Indian economy. This will give confidence to foreign companies and investors that India is better, it has capacity, and resources and capabilities. Look at the example of G20. India completely owned the beautifully hosted the G20, giving much needed attention to all its states and also bringing world powers to deep within India, giving them a preview of what the India is. I think the Olympics would do very similar things.

India will most likely host Olympics in multiple cities giving a boost to those cities infrastructure and also their local economy. This will also boost India's confidence in its sports and help create a bigger sports industry.

Look at the example of cricket. The IPL is the second highest valuation league in the world, generating so many employment and boosting local economies. I would say, the India has the capacity and resources for having multiple such leagues.

Turkey, Indonesia, Poland, Qatar, spain and India are looking to bid for 2036 olympics so it's not like nobody wants to host olympics. Olympics almost always hosted by devloped countries but hosting it in developing countries is gonna give it a push in different sectors.

I actually support olympics being hosted in India. I know that capacity of nation is enough to turn it into a profitable event. I believe we have a great demographic advantage of population right now which is actually very excited about hosting olympics.
And even if it could be a loss making endeavour but the opportunities and awareness it will create among countrymen is enormous even if it was loss making.
All those countries where olympics were hosted were infrastructurally developed already enough which is a different case with India so our investement should NOT be loss makimg if done properly.

A country like India is severely lacking in infrastructure.
It has a terrible lack of sporting facilities.
There is no fear of sporting facilities lying unused.
The problem is Olympics are hosted in one city.
It should be spread around the country so that facilities are developed in a distributed manner and investments and benefits are shared over multiple locations, which can benefit athletes and spectators, also general public and travellers for roads, buses, rapid transit, airports, hotels, railways.
When India hosts cricket world cup, matches are arranged in ten different stadia.
People from all corners of India managed to see live, if they wished, or saw their local stadia hosting matches in tv.
That is the way to go.
I don't know why some of the games are not distributed in different stadia.

India should first build its infrastructure and toilet. promote equal human rights and equal education rights to everyone including the poor, especially the poor.
