Welcome to the first episode of Season 2

We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world.

Well we've finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we're embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world.

Follow along with our journey and help us with any advice and tips you have along the way.

I love the design of that vessel, its sturdy, strong and has character. Young Jack will develop into a resourceful person with everything that is going on around him, more so when the sailing adventures start in the future. Well done guys I admire your resolve. May all your dreams and aspirations come true. Keep up the good work!!. Greetings from Gibraltar.

Get a 3in1 plasma tig mma to cut out rusted shell plating, cut new and weld it in much easier better & faster than oxytorch, grinders and drills. Use several welders magnets to hold smaller plating in holes to tack larger plates need tabs to position. Get a qualified welding inspector to check it all out when done and your good to go. Having welding inspected could save your lives money & heartache by picking up any deficiencies/defects.

I watch a number of yachties and have no doubt that each and everyone knows exactly what they are about to enter into. It seems nothing is to much trouble and the capacity for work and disappointment is immeasurable. So glad she is going to live again.
