You can read the books in the library and you can select 'talk' with the purple bunny shopkeeper, she can tell you a lot of stuff too.

If I was you, Id start storing some of your pointless items (like the stick, toy knife, older armors) or throw them out. Later on it gets pretty important to make sure you have plenty of healing items and keeping items like those just takes up extra slots!

You should definitely check out Papyrus' kitchen before you date him, if you're able to leave that room (I honestly don't remember if you're allowed to unless you date him first).
