Bears are in far more places than people realize, not just in the Yukon but in huge areas of the USA. I live in LA and I've seen bears just 10 miles from my home. Someone in Burbank had one in their pool this summer. I go backpacking a lot and follow the same basic rules as this video.

I would cook in a specific outfit, eat, then change outfits and leave my cooking outfit with my food. I had a bear sniffing at my tent once & wasn't a big fan of that experience.
Or if I know I'll be in bear country, I bring food I don't have to cook.
