ORSTools 1.2 for Routing, Isochrones and Travel Time in QGIS

Показать описание

An update of my previous OSM Tools & ORS Tools tutorials, learn how to use the ORS Tools plugin to carry out route calculations, produce isochrones (aka service area calculations) and travel time matrices within QGIS 3. Best of all it's totally free for up to 2500 calculations a day!

If you enjoy the video, please remember to like and subscribe.

ORS tools uses the free OpenRouteService API, based on OpenStreetMap data, to allow you to calculate routes, travel times and service areas without needing to do any work setting up your own network dataset. All you need is a point layer with your start and end points for routes or access points for isochrones and it will do the rest for you. You can even calculate times for different travel types - car journey, HGV, walking, cycling etc.

Great videos and a brilliant QGIS plugin! Travelling Salesman solution is so cool with OpenStreetMap data!

Hello I just want to ask why does the isochrones cover so much? Does it not consider traffic or the type of road?

Hi
Really exciting. Could there be PDF steps on the tutorials.
Sorry for demanding too much
Thanks

Hi AMDGS, thank you so much for the helpful tutorial. Do we need to have our shapefiles in WGS84 projection for the plugin to work?

When I hit 'Apply' after selecting my points, I get this error message at the top of the screen. Any ideas?
Python error: An error has occurred while executing Python code: See message log (Python Error) for more details.

Hi AMDGS,

This is a great demo. Is there anywhere within this tool to be able to specify a maximum time ie. with the travelling salesman option, is there the option to cap the route at an 8 hour day?
Thanks

Hi Dr. Andrew Miles. I'm from Spain and I'm having a project for my End of Degree Project, so I wanted to ask you some doubts about QGIS. I'm interested in isochrones for ambulances so I need to know the next questions:
1. When are the isochrones calculated by ORS Tools, does it take into account road traffic?
2. Depending on the time you calculate the isochrones, will it give you a different result, or is it not in real time?
Thank you so much in advance.

How do you deal if your crossing water bodies as like taking a ferry etc?

Hi Dr. Andrew Miles.
I also write you from Spain. In my case I'm a retired amateur.
I made a polygon layer but when ORS runs with <Avoid polygons> selected Python returns this message:
AttributeError: 'QgsFeature' object has no attribute 'transform'.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks a lot

do you know how to process larger batches of data? I'm working with a few hundred urgent care sites per state and I keep getting an error of exceeding the query limit. I'm not sure how to get this to run. any ideas? thanks!
