Interesting solution to the problem, but I would think the handle is backward. Water should be flowing when the handle is in the same direction as the pipe and water is off when the handle is perpendicular to it.

Unfortunately these 16 bar pipes with low thickness are appropriate with low pressure not high pressure and the pressure to the water in this video could be just 1 to 1.5 bar maximum, so these maintenance could work, but high pressures needs to replace portions.
And instead of using sand paper to roughness the valve surface, just use (thinner or cleaner with brush ) it is guaranteed.
