Litigation Fundamentals | Starting a Lawsuit: Required Procedures & Documents

In this episode of Litigation Fundamentals, Henry M. Quillian III highlights required procedures and documents when starting a lawsuit. Henry begins on the topic of courts of record, referencing the civil practice act, uniformed superior court rules, uniformed state court rules, case law that can amend or clarify rules and the constitution with certain practice acts.

Using a scenario example, Henry outlines items needed to begin a lawsuit: complaint form, filing form (and fee), summons and civil action cover sheet. He also reminds the group that the venue is constitutionally mandated in Georgia to underscore the significance of filing in the correct county.
