The traditional women's costume of the Greek island Karpathos is synonymous with the soul and the culture of its inhabitants. Married women are dressed mainly in black, with a few bright spots while the younger girls use much more colorful clothing and their garments are richly embroidered, decorated with beads, sequins, and bright patterns on the fabric.
Η παραδοσιακή γυναικεία φορεσιά της Καρπάθου είναι συνώνυμη με την ψυχή και τον πολιτισμό των κατοίκων του νησιού. Οι παντρεμένες γυναίκες ντύνονται κυρίως με μαύρα ρούχα, με μερικά μόνο ανοιχτόχρωμα στοιχεία, ενώ τα νεότερα κορίτσια χρησιμοποιούν πολύ πιο πολύχρωμα ενδύματα, πλούσια κεντημένα, διακοσμημένα με χάντρες, πούλιες και φωτεινά μοτίβα στο ύφασμα.
