I used to be a mall security for 4 years and just around the late 90s and early 00s. Just let you know guys, there is no way they could be there without the knowledge of a few guards. We seen people who were frequent visitors and we even knew their favorite stores and their routine, just after a few weeks. Trust me, mall security can be very boring so having constricted to watch the cameras and walk around the mall, security guards will start noticing things to the smallest details, every nooks and crannies and memorizing visitors. They could not just walk around for 4 years and nobody picking up on it.

If I was a Mall cop working there and I knew about that room, I would definitely use that as a break room! Especially when I was younger, and when I smoked marijuana! What a great place to take a break, smoke a joint and have a beer!
Edit, And I totally believe that the previous security guards were in on it! Like, let’s think about it, 4 years, and they never got caught ! 48 months, and they got away with it, that’s gotta be impossible without getting caught by the mall cops! Because I know in four years of me working at a place I would definitely want to know what was up in that room! And I would definitely check it out.
