Coincidence that Sweden wins Eurovision 2023 and has to host next year when it's the 50th Anniversary of ABBA winning? There's more going on here...

I just felt bad for the boys from Lord of the Lost :( They really didn't deserve the last place.

As a Swede I agree. Finland losing in spite of being 133 points ahead in pubic voting is bullshit.

The crowd chanting cha cha cha souls have been an indicator who should’ve won

Exactly what I was saying last night!
Finland were the real winners
Feel sorry for LOTL didn’t deserve to come last!

Speaking as a German I may be biased but it’s safe to say while LOTL may have been controversial and not to everyone’s taste, last place is absolutely unfair.
And I agree with you. Way back when, Euphoria was phenomenal and a deserved winner. Tattoo not so much. For all the reasons you mentioned, Finland should’ve taken it home this year, even tho it was a bit over the top for my personal taste.
It’s all politics nowadays…

Hey Tank,

I totally agree with you! I just don't know what happened to Germany again! (!!) LOTL didn't deserve to be at the end, not at all!

As a Swede, i totally agree. Finland should have won, Germany deserved way better points and Australia had a solid song.

I'll never forget when Nightwish entered to represent Finland for Eurovision with Sleepwalker. They won the fan vote by a landslide, but the judges decided on some shitty pop song instead

I'd say make it so that jury gives 25% and fans 75% of the points.

You are so right Tank. Without the jury voting...Finland were no 1. The people wanted Finland.

It's also culturally alot more interesting, Käärijä sang in Finnish, and sung about coming out of your icy shell, along with your social anxiety to go into the dance floor for the weekend. This also betrays the stereotype of Finnish people being quiet or not good at small talk. It was also a great performance to boot, and Käärijä did try his hardest.

Meanwhile Sweden's performance was sung in English and it is a generic, one-sided love song in-terms of lyrics (also an older song). It doesn't culturally really tell about Sweden much. And it didn't seem to take an interesting direction how it's composed, compared to Cha Cha at least, from what I've read and heard from music reviewers.

This is not to mention the other songs that deserved more jury votes.

I've never even heard of Eurovision until I heard Tank talk about it last year. That being said, there is no way Lord of the Lost should come in last place on any musical competition.

Someone wrote me today that they liked LotL's song but didn't vote for them because they are privileged and automatically in the finals and don't have to work hard for it like others. As someone who knows how many years LotL have been working hard for, it broke my heart for the guys and also made me angry. It's not just the juries and politics, it's also grudge

The "wrong song" always wins. It's the only ESC constant.

While I agree with you on Finland, I have to say that the jury vote was added precisly to remove politics out of the contest. They don't even show which popular vote comes from which country exactly to remove the whole political drama that came with it. I remember when it was only popular vote: voting neighbouring countries, east europe against west europe, everyone against France and Russia, homophobe countries against lgbt performers. Basically, the song never mattered, what mattered was the flag.

If I recall correctly, it used to be only audience vote (with jury only as a backup if the country televoting system fail) before. I don't think Lordi would have won in 2006 if they had been jury voting seeing how the French TV presenter was mocking their performance and was baffled by all the 12 point coming from so many countries for them :D

I just have to mention that it was actually noticeable how the fans watching live went absolutely crazy over Käärijä. The hosts had to try to calm them down and i just so happen to know there couldn't be enough finns for that amount of noise. We are not the most loud fans. I have never seen such kind of behaviour amongst finns over anything. It was international success. The jury voting also was just riddiculous. I have heard many be FURIOUS over that.

Can we really start a petition that EBU needs to remove jury?
