I can tell you that we live in California and when my oldest of 6 sons was in high school his friends did not know where and how fruits and vegetables were grown. They used to come over to learn to cook and learn about food.

Did you get paid to pick the fruit or just helping a neighbor? My sister picked apples in Washington numerous years ago. They used a similar type bag for the apples but, went into a wooden bushel box.
