Surely it would have been easier to add a percentage onto the price of the shipping cost at the time of purchase, as you have to input the dimensions and weight of the parcel into the couriers system. This could also be tied into with a registration system and number which could also be entered into the couriers system.

Nothing I ever send to Germany actually arrives, it used to but not nowadays. They tend to put stickers over the lucid info & then also try to charge buyers the tax that they have already paid. I give up.

If this was about the environment, then using easily recyclable packaging materials wouldn’t require any of this. That’s how you incentivise businesses into more eco friendly packaging. Not by making them pay and spend hours on silly admin stuff for all packaging. That’s just creating profits for the dual system providers and double charging citizens for their recycling, as I’m sure they already pay local taxes for that purpose. It also blocks many small business sellers like most of us are because we don’t have the resources to deal with it. It’s a way to cut retail competition so the big corps win.

Actually it is ‘Postage Policy’ in business policies? You can write a new postage policy and apply it to all listings via edit all. Worth looking it. I had to write 15 postage policies but now I can apply the correct policy to each item. Pain the arse but worth it.

Thanks for the video. I will not be selling into Germany at all. Not that I much sales to begin with anyway. I think that people in Germany will have sellers send to addresses in neighboring countries and pick them up there to avoid all of this. In a way this reminds of the high tax that Canada has or had on used books. Sellers would smuggle books across the border(pre 9-11) to buyers or the buyers would come to the states and smuggle them back into Canada on less traveled roads.

Whilst I sympathise with the environmental impact of packaging, this is just nuts. Why the hell do I have to pay money to adhere to another country's laws? Imagine if I have pay this money for every country in the world. It would make international shipping impossible for small scale sellers.

I applied for my Lucid number, it was really easy and it's free. I do have plastic free packaging options and I'm using this opportunity to look into it. I feel it's a shame that people are not looking into their sustainability practices.

Actually it’s not very complicated and I was able to figure it out and get licensed in 20 min just using eBays link. Not hard at all.
