I'm certainly no psychologist, but I think the reason most people find this version more emotional than the original song (myself included), comes down to the fact that we grew up with these characters, we've seen them grow, they made us laugh and cry when we needed them the most, which is why we are more connected to said characters, and why this version is more emotional, for that matter.
