China and the Philippines accused each other of ramming their ships Saturday in a disputed area of the South China Sea, the latest in an escalating series of clashes in the vital waterway.

China claims almost all of the economically vital waterway, despite competing claims from other countries and an international court ruling that its assertion has no legal basis.

A Chinese coast guard spokesperson said Saturday's incident took place off the disputed Sabina Shoal, which has emerged as a new hotspot in the long-running maritime confrontations between Manila and Beijing.

Shortly after noon, a Philippine ship "deliberately collided with" a Chinese vessel near the shoal, known in Chinese as Xianbin, said spokesperson Liu Dejun, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Seriously, to gain some respect from other countries, the Chinese government needs to *stop its lies.*

*The international law* is very clear on the South China Sea:
- parts of it belong to some ASEAN countries including the Philippines 🇵🇭,
- the rest of it is the international water,
- no part of it belongs to China🇨🇳 or Taiwan🇹🇼.

The Philippine ship was a gift from Japan, and the Chinese ship is a replica based on a Japanese Coast Guard ship. What an irony.

I think that China is very short-sighted when they piss of all their southern neighbours like this. All countries with shores on the South China Sea have an common interest in free unrestricted and safe maritime trade and should co-operate in ensuring the sea is safe for navigation. It's much better to cooperate with your neighbours than to be a bully.

We have had enough AFP Chief Brawner!. The Philippines must seek/accept US help, alone the Philippines cannot stand upholding the rule of law while China is ignoring UNCLOS and international maritime laws.
Amend or expand PH-US Mutual Defense Treaty as needed, it must be more responsive to address current aggressive expansionism of China in WPS

China's nine-dash line claim was invalidated by UNCLOS Arbitral Decision, The ruling is final and binding to China as a signatory to UNCLOS, but China rejected the ruling and is illegally asserting sovereignty on Philippine EEZ and the South China sea.
Thus the Philippines must strengthen defense capability, procure what it can soonest: more ships, F-16 fighter jets, TYPHON MISSILE SYSTEMS, BRAHMOS supersonic anti-ship missiles, Spyder air missiles, surveillance drones HIMARS, radar systems, submarines, and other military assets.

Why would they do this when they could have just attacked for real? Why destroy a boat with your own boat?

It is Philippines, influenced by the US, who violated other countries territory and undermined regional stability and peace.

The Philippine Coast Guard can't do anything about it. The Chinese outnumber Philippine vessels 7 to 1. Not only that but the Chinese have bigger ships. I mean, The Philippine Navy itself was stopped by a mere Chinese Coast Guard, that shows how weak the Philippine maritime forces have. The Philippine main Navy force stopped just by a coast Guard. That alone tells you a lot.

The ASEAN nations are aligned with China except the Philippines.

Proof? No ASEAN nations joins the USA naval exercises in the South China Sea except the Philippines.
