I've been listening to Kpop since 2010 and the one thing I can say about YG is that he never disappoints when he debut these groups you should check out their web drama on their channel lol

tbf I think it's because we're adults that we think that way about the lyrics 🤷🏻‍♀️ for Mmm, people were getting all worked up over stuff like Hyunsuk's line "tense up you harden me like Medusa" or "it's going to explode because of you" in the chorus but uh for the former he literally means seeing the girl paralyses him like how Medusa turns men into stone statues and for the latter, if you take the song as a whole (especially in reference to the outro), they are talking about their heart speeding up and beating really fast whenever they see the girl! that's why it's an emergency haha!

It's undoubtedly a more mature concept but I don't believe it was actually that sexual/sexy, nothing in their staging or outfits made it that way too and fans were respectful enough given their age and didn't sexualise them. In fact for I Love You, there was a dance move where they had to kinda lift their shirts up and down rapidly and stylists gave them inner tees to wear because yeah, minors in here! so I think the company is aware and managing it well.

Treasure is interesting though, because their fanbase is made up of quite a lot of older fans (eg fans of other YG groups) so it may feel strange to us. but if I think about it, when I was a teen, and listening to boybands who were around my age or slightly older, there were a ton of questionable lyrics that I didn't even understand till I was much older 🤷🏻‍♀️ it was just fun pop music to me back then and I think we just need to view this in the same light

I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel! I like how you're genuinely interested in the groups that you react to, actually doing a little bit of research about them. I like how you share your thoughts, too! And, it was definitely not overthinking. In addition to what other commenters said, having a large gap between the youngest and oldest members and varied musical interests contribute to them having a hard time balancing the concepts they do. Hopefully, their next comeback would be the start of them cementing their distinct sound.

the group did mention that they are exploring different genres as they grow into better artists so you might notice with their music. try to check out their b-side tracks and the song they self produced 'Everyday'

The Highnote in "My Treasure" was my Ultimate Bias, The ACE, Bang Yedam aka how we Called him: God Yedam 🤣, he is a legend in YG Entertainment. His vocals are GOLD and his voice is very unique.

They're my ult group. I share the same sentiments concerning a couple of their concepts. I question some of the lyrics. Even the b-sides lol. If I was 16 I don't think it would bother me, but as a 29 year old I do feel some type of way. They have a few other MV's Beautiful, written by Yoshi for an original soundtrack, and a fan song called Everyday that Treasure self-produced. They also have a live video for their song Orange produced by Asahi.
They were formed via a survival show called Treasure Box. It is a great way to see their true talent. It's also an interesting look at the realities of the K-pop trainee system.
