I’ve been a nurse since 2011 and time mgt is the most important thing! It takes a while to develop. I used to time myself in each room and follow my brain sheet. I now precept and print a brain sheet for my preceptees from Pinterest. Don’t be a know it all EVER in your career! Things change in nursing DAILY!

And be nice to those outside of the nursing team. Pharmacy, maintenance, housekeeping, food service all play a part in effectively helping make nurses jobs easier. Be social with them as well.

Y'all gonna learn to communicate with your COWORKERS..some of us spend more time with them than we do with our OWN FAMILY..I've been a Nurse for 18 years and I've seen NURSES sink themselves because they are rude, antisocial and just very arrogant to their coworkers..I'm that nurse that's gonna make you talk to me regardless..We gonna laugh, play and have fun while at work

I’m a new nurse, 6 months in, and sis this is all facts! And y’all better ask for help that will save you sooo much stress and headache. & learn to Delegate! Lord have mercy learn to delegate! Also, please help your CNAs/Patient Care Techs. They taught me much when I first started and I make sure to help them out too when I can. Also don’t be robot to your patients. You can make mistakes, forget to bring them something anything but if you talk with them show you care, that’s all they’re gonna remember. Keep a smile on your face at all times in front of them even if you are drowning!

I partially agree with this video and I wished that you would eloborate more on time mx.
EG.
1. Grouping activities is optional - eg. Meds are due at 2100, HS and VS at 2200. I hardly serve meds before 2100 bc I'm not going into a pt room twice in less than an hr.
Another eg. Dressing change and med round. Leave that pt last.
2. Bring supplies with you, for eg. Alcohol swabs, flush, 2×2, tape, etc. Plus extras eg. Lancet
3. Know how to politely end a conversation with a pt. &/or family.

I totally agree with socialization BUT I believe nurses in the US are sabataged for being an introvert. While the sociability nurses get easy passes. Networking is key but we need to treat human being as human beings.

Speaking as a new nurse, some experienced nurses think we know what we’re doing and we don’t, it’s helpful to fill us in instead of letting us drown. Thanks for the tips!

I've been contemplating going to school for nursing for years and every time I watch your videos, I get REAL LIFE logical motivation to do it.

One thing a lot of new nurses do now is COMPLAIN. I feel like everyone has to pay their dues to some extent. Whether that’s having to work night shift, holidays, getting a shitty assignment etc. At the end of the day, someone has to do it, and we ALL rotate through it. Some new nurses are fresh out of school, never had a “grown up” job and honey they are entitled af!

I love this video !!! Even only being a nurse for 2 years I can vouch for everything you said here. I recently precepted someone also who had this same mentality and i did the exact same thing . Nurses always have to be able to learn and be willing because none of us know everything, that i know it all persona will bite them in the butt in the long run better to learn on orientation to causing a safety error when they are on their own.

Omg I hated my classmates who swore they knew everything during nursing clinical. I start my new grad orientation tomorrow and this video came just in time! Thank you! I pray I get a preceptor who's as willing and dope as you to teach a new grad because I'm so ready to soak up all the knowledge.

Also don’t get caught up in complaining. I have worked with people that will run around all shift, every shift, complaining it’s so busy, even if it’s not, or complaining about last shift and what they didn’t do or complaining about how bad the last nurse gave report or complaining about patients constantly etc. some complaining once in a great while nonchalantly with the nurses you’re working with is normal. But you don’t want to be known as the annoying complaining Debbie downer nurse 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

You should definitely do a video on tips to stay motivated sis😀. Watching you in your videos, you come off confident very driven and very real. Those 3 things alone make a great setup for a "how I stay motivated "video. You're very inspiring. 😁🧡
