Running and knee pain...do you ever feel like you can't have one without the other? Stick to your favorite physical activity and avoid knee pain by strengthening your thigh muscles with one simple exercise.

Step-ups will help strength the muscle in the front of your thigh. Work this exercise into your routine even if you don't feel knee pain yet, but reduce the height/frequency of it if you feel pain or discomfort.

Keep one leg up on a stair or stool and step your other leg up. Perform these actions slowly for 8-12 reps. Try to do 3 sets, 3 times a week, to build knee strength and resolve pain.
