When you mentioned blocking you from leaving a room, my parents moved to a house where there was kind of a circular path around the stairs. Their cat would regularly block our dog by just standing in a doorway and making the dog take the long way around. Seemed to mostly work unless food was involved in which case the dog instantly became dominant.

Also, cats don’t need to blink like we do. Blinking is more of a choice. It’s probably an adaptation that makes them very good hunters. They have a third eyelid that keeps their eyes moist and protected without interfering with their eyesight.
