I would have used a chord grommet and connected the 220VAC inside the case for better isolation from the elements like water, rain and whatever.
That way the box would be fairly well sealed and less of a hazard.
Otherwise a good idea but a lot of work for something readily available already made with LED lights and cheap online.

I used SR501 for sometime, but now I prever using SR602 because it's simple and smaller.

I've given up using transistors to switch a relay coil - transistors are so delicate to spikes.
Wasting a diode across the coil is too inconvenient for me, and the back-emf has burned up too many transistors, even using very small relays.
I'm experimenting using MOSFETs and IGBTs to switch a DC load and I've had a little more success, but even they can stop working without warning.
These days I only trust pre-made modules for critical builds, as they have the protection in-built. So many traps for the beginner, it's enough to make you give up tinkering.
