Samsung will not copy the camera control button. But Chinese phone manufacturers will. They copied the dynamic island, the three camera array at the back, the Apple Watch and Ultra (even the button placements).

Xperia phone shows why you don't need to overengineer a button. Just a simple hold to lock focus and press to capture is more than enough for a camera control. Besides even photographers change their settings with dials available on camera which on a smartphone is already controlled on screen. Sometimes pushing too much can be a detriment.

I want Samsung to copy Apples 24mp daytime picture mode. It's a big leap forward to make phone pictures look more professional. Real detail instead of artificial sharpness filter.

I refunded my 16 pro max. The camera button was a deal breaker for me. It was always in the way and I kept pressing it on accident. Even if the annoying camera button wasn't there, it's not a worthy upgrade from a 14 or 15 pro max.

What happened to 3D Touch is happening to camera controls again. I love 3D touch and wish it was continued and improved on. Im really happy with camera control and I'm glad that the hardware is there because I really wish that they put more customizability and improvements via software updates
