For anyone who does not know, travellers from all the countries who are part of G20 coming to delhi, mumbai or bengaluru airport can open PPI (prepaid payment instrument) wallets which can be linked to UPI. And then you can easily pay using UPI anywhere in the country.

U could have activated your bank debit card for international transactions before u travelled to India ! Simple wire transfer would have worked out or safest was to bring American Dollar travellers cheques and this would have been encased in any good Indian bank without any brokerage ! Only issue is exchange rates may increase or decrease the amount in Indian Rupees !!! One should be well prepared before going for international travel as finance empowerment and medical insurance is a must !!!
