Conservative leadership: Did Sunak's aggressive approach pay off?

A snap poll by Opinium research following the first head-to-head debate by the final two PM hopefuls Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak put them neck-and-neck.

The poll suggested Sunak won the backing of 39 per cent of the vote, with Truss closely behind at 38 per cent.

Don't particularly warm to either of them. Most voters would prefer Liz than slippery Sunak. Boris is infinitely more popular than both of them.

No Sunak came off as a bit of a bully, and also there’s a tremendous point against Sunak in that he raised taxes when the rest of the west didn’t and now we are suffering more than others because of it. I think ultimately it doesnt matter cause they are all tainted by Boris and the Tories will see the punishment at the polls on a general election.

I thought that Sunak's constant talking over Truss, not letting her make her point and behaving like he was the interviewer was digraceful. Is that how he is going to debate points with his colleagues in government? Beyond rude and a clear attempt to bully.
