How to teach your dog to ‘weave’ through - TUTORIAL

This is a fun but tricky trick that took us a while to get right, mainly because I was tripping over myself every time I took big steps.
But teaching tricks like ‘touch’, ‘middle’ ‘footsies’ and ‘figure 8’ first helped. All these tricks are available in the stories highlights under the tab ‘tutorials’’.

Here’s the step-by-step guide to ‘weave’

☞ With your dog on one side, take a big step forward with your opposite leg
☞ Lure your dog through the legs with a treat or using the ‘touch’ command. Touch is our preference
☞ When they’ve walked completely through, mark with a word like ‘YES’ and reward
☞ Repeat with the opposite leg and practice until thorough
☞ Repeat by taking a couple of steps, increasing the distance gradually
☞ Introduce the command ‘weave’ and switch to directing with fingers
☞ Repeat until through, and your dog doesn’t need direction with fingers
