I was in Berlin in 89 when the wall came down and in one my first excursians into East Berlin, I seen 3 guys on the street using a battery powered amp, a single snare drum singing this over and over again in an East German accent and a speed about 1.5 times faster than what it should have been. It was one of many awesome memories from that time period...

Lex is so intuitive. The single was originally released in 1982. But it was reissued in 1991 here in the UK after being used in an ad campaign and finally gave the Clash a no. 1 hit. ( They had previously held a record for 17 top 40 hits without ever cracking the UK Top 10.) I heartily recommend a reaction to Bank Robber by them or a reggae dub cover of Willie Williams Armagideon Time.

One of my faves! You just can’t go wrong with The Clash! They are the ideal punk rock band and they are just adored everywhere. I just want to say RIP Joe Strummer and thank you!!!

every middle and high school dance I went to in the 80s - we played this song and had so much fun dancing to this fantastic track from the Clash. Love it! Still an all-time favorite to this day!

I can still remember seeing this is MSG live. They were SO cool. I was on a business trip with my dad and we were looking for something to do that night and we asked the concierge if he had any tickets we might like for that evening. He has two ticekts for the Clash he had taken in trade from another conceriege and it was not the vibe of the people at the hotel we were staying at (very posh). He gave us the tickets so they would not go to waste. I loved it, I think my dad hated it but was a good sport about it. Just one of those memories were I can see, hear, taste and smell the moment.

Love how Lex is able to really get into the spirit of so many of the punk / post-punk / new wave songs of the late 70s / early 80s .. She embraces the sound of many of my faves, such as The Clash, Elvis Costello and others .. Thumbs up, Lexi !!!

Oh my, this was a total anthem for a while. You could be at a club or at an outdoor party with a huge PA system, or a bunch of people crammed into someone's living room partying, and this would come on and everyone would immediately start dancing and shouting along. And then when it hit those double tempo parts, a mosh pit would immediately form with everybody slam dancing. So fun. And as far as that little crack he did with his voice falling off the word, that is extremely similar to what John Lennon did a lot in those early Beatles songs. And they're both from England.

Being Mexican and a fan of the clash…I love how they be singing in Spanish
