In this video, the structure of the Earth is examined, highlighting its various layers and their characteristics. The Earth is divided into three main layers: the crust, mantle, and core. The crust, the outermost layer, is further classified into continental and oceanic crusts, which differ in thickness, density, and composition. The lithosphere, consisting of the crust and the upper rigid part of the mantle, is broken into tectonic plates that slowly move over the upper mantle. The lithosphere is solid and brittle, leading to earthquakes along plate boundaries. Below the lithosphere lies the asthenosphere, a denser and weaker layer where rocks are semi-molten and ductile. The mantle is predominantly solid, but the asthenosphere can flow due to high temperatures and pressure. Deeper in the mantle is the lower mantle, which is hotter, denser, and less ductile than the upper mantle. Finally, at the center of the Earth is the core, under immense pressure and consisting of a solid inner core and a liquid outer core.
