Great question! While we don't use RFID technology in our MobileAsset Software, the asset tags do include barcodes for easy, efficient, and accurate equipment management - ultimately eliminating timely manual tracking by hand.

@markcarey06 You're right. The tags can become damaged in such conditions. Thankfully, the fire department can easily replace any damaged asset tag by printing a new one. Swap out the old with the new and you're good to go!

This seems like a great idea but the problem comes when you have to use the item and the tag is rendered un-readable. Its hard enough to read tags on equipment when it is used, banged up, dirty/distorted, of faded from wear. I cant imagine how a barcode would work. Probably works great on a copy machine in the office...not so much on a fire department rated nozzle.
