Pinglu Canal, China's first man-made waterway after the Grand Canal, is expected to create huge trade gains as a part of China's new western land-sea corridor. The over-10-billion-dollar project spans 135 kilometers and is six months into its construction starting last August.

The new canal will save 560-kilometer travel distance and 10-day travel time upon its completion by 2026.
